Originally from the city of Molfetta in the south of Italy, Giancarlo de Trizio started playing piano at the age of 9 and drums when he was 12. After studying drums for 2 years with Rino Corrieri, he was admitted at the Music Conservatory “Niccolo’ Piccini” in Bari where he graduated in 2007 with Summa cum Laude. As a scholarship recipient, Giancarlo decided to further his studies at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston and he soon became one of the most in demand drummers in the Boston area and received numerous awards:
– Most Improved Drummer ’07, Vater Drum Set Award ‘10 (Berklee College of Music).
– Steve Ettleson Scholarship ‘08 (Percussive Arts Society).
– New England Urban Music Award ‘11 (Rajdulari Jazz Project).
